IPL 2021: Ranking all 8 teams based on their all-rounders
All-rounders have the ability to impact the game in two ways.
3. Chennai Super Kings
CSK’s squad has been packed with several all-rounders over the last few years as MS Dhoni always prefers to have a good number of bowling options along with batting depth. It is no different this year and their starting XI could potentially have 4-5 proper all-rounders. Ravindra Jadeja is the most high-profile one and when in form, he is one of the very best all-rounders in the game.
Sam Curran was arguably their best player last season and will be one of the first names on the teamsheet. He is a very good batsman and can be used in pretty much any situation while his bowling is also quite effective. Dwayne Bravo hasn’t been in particularly great form in the last couple of IPL’s, but MS Dhoni will still back him to the fullest and try to get the best out of him.
Moeen Ali and Krishnappa Gowtham were their biggest buys at the auction and both of them are likely to feature in the XI as well. Even Shardul Thakur could potentially be considered a bowling all-rounder given his exploits with the bat over the last couple of months. Mitchell Santner is also there as backup and it is quite obvious that it is an area of strength for the Super Kings.
