IPL 2021: Ravindra Jadeja goes down on one knee to hit Mustafizur Rahman for a breathtaking six
Ravindra Jadeja scored 32 off 15 balls.
Ravindra Jadeja put up an exhibition of big-hitting against Rajasthan Royals at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The southpaw played some magnificent shots in the final overs as CSK advanced to 189/4 in their allotted 20 overs. Although Ruturaj Gaikwad’s century overshadowed his contribution, RR bowlers were given a hard time by the southpaw. Overall, he scored 32 off just 15 balls and remained unbeaten till the end.
While Jadeja played several brilliant shots during the course of his knock, his six off Mustafizur Rahman impressed fans the most. It was the last over of the CSK and Mustafizur, one of the finest death bowlers going around, was looking to minimize the damage. However, he bowled a full-toss in the second ball and Jadeja didn’t miss out.
Incredible hitting from Ravindra Jadeja
The southpaw had premeditated the shot as he went on knees even before the ball was delivered. Luckily for him, the ball was delivered right in his arc and Jadeja played an outrageous shot. Sitting on a knee, the left-hander effortlessly smoked over the boundary over deep square leg. This added six crucial runs to CSK’s total and Jadeja looked pleased.
Speaking of the game, RR won the toss and invited CSK to bat first. Openers Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad embraced the challenge and added 47 runs for the first wicket. While the South African dasher got out for 25, Gaikwad was a man on a mission as continued tormenting RR bowlers.
While he was careful in the initial overs, Gaikwad went absolutely berserk at the end. From Mustafizur Rahman to Rahul Tewatia, Gaikwad spared none and reached his maiden IPL century. Notably, he smashed a six off the very last ball of the innings to get the milestone. Overall, he scored 101 off 60 balls as the three-time champions posted an impressive total.
Meanwhile, this game holds great significance for Rajasthan Royals. They have blown hot and cold in the competition and a defeat here would end their hopes of qualifying for the playoffs. On the contrary, MS Dhoni’s men have already secured a berth in the playoffs and are now aiming for a top-two finish.
