Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) skipper David Warner said that fast bowler T Natarajan is being monitored after the latter sustained a knee sprain during the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The left-arm pacer has had to sit out for the last two games against Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

As per Warner, the Tamil Nadu-born Natarajan might go for a scan in which case, the latter will have to serve a quarantine period before he returns back to the park. In the pacer’s place, Khaleel Ahmed has been playing for the Orange Army.

“No, he has obviously got a sore knee. Given the circumstance in these bubbles, if he goes and gets a scan, he obviously has to sit out for seven days. He has to get back in quarantine. We are just monitoring him at the moment. The physios are doing their best to analyse from a face point of view but he obviously has to go out and get a scan at some point,” Warner said after the match against PBKS.

Our bowlers did a fantastic job: David Warner

On Wednesday, at the Chepauk, SRH opened their account in the 2021 IPL after three losses on the trot. The Sunrisers beat the KL Rahul-led PBKS by nine wickets after chasing down 121 runs with eight balls to spare.

After the win, Warner lauded the bowlers for restricting the opposition with precision. Warner, himself, contributed to some extent with a run-a-ball 37 on the difficult surface to bat on. He also had had words of praises for Kane Williamson, who played his first game of the ongoing season.

“Very pleasing. Our bowlers did a fantastic job and reduced them to a low score. They executed well and we won batting second. (On his dismissal) It was probably a mixture of both (mistimed and fatigue), I should have tried to hit it in the grandstand but that happens in cricket.

“The game plan of having him (Williamson) there is obviously to anchor the game and he rotates strike so well,“ he added. Jonny Bairstow was adjudged the Player of the Match after his unbeaten 56-ball 63 in the run-chase.
