Vijay Shankar, the Sunrisers Hyderabad cricketer, was involved in a bizarre moment during the match against the Delhi Capitals on Sunday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. He didn’t give the batters much to work with and was mostly accurate in his line and lengths. But in the 13th over of the Capitals’ innings, he churned out an indifferent ball to Rishabh Pant.

He went for a slower delivery, which went completely array. The ball slipped out of his hand and went miles up in the air. The left-handed Pant waited for the ball to come down for an eternity. In the end, the batter mistimed a pull-shot and could only manage one run off the delivery.

Umpire Chris Gaffaney was surprised and later it was given a no-ball for height. Steve Smith made use of the free hit, smashing one to the boundary in between short third man and backward point. As far as Shankar was concerned, he gave away only 19 runs in three overs at an economy of 6.30.

David Warner confident of his team chasing targets

Earlier, the Sunrisers were put in to field first. However, David Warner wasn’t unhappy since SRH beat the Punjab Kings by nine wickets after batting second. SRH roped in left-arm spinner Jagadeesha Suchith for fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar. “We have been batting second the whole time, so I don’t think it really matters.

“The way Kane and Jonny finished off the game last game was that we should have done previously. Obviously, the experienced heads in the middle, we were able to do that. We bowled well, that was the most important thing and the most pleasing thing,” Warner stated.

Pant read the pitch as a dry one. The Capitals roped in Axar Patel in place of Lalit Yadav. “We are gonna bat first. I think the wicket looks slightly drier. There’ll be less dew today because of the weather.

“We are not going to judge ourselves on batting and bowling, we are gonna judge ourselves as a fielding unit. We are just trying to do the same thing in each and every match and it’s paying off well for us. One change. We have Axar coming in for Lalit,” Pant said.
