IPL 2022: 3 Benched DC players who deserve a chance in the playing XI
Placed in the second half of the points table, Delhi Capitals might make a few adjustments in their playing 11 to bounce back from a poor showing so far.
3. Yash Dhull
Another under-19 star and a Delhi lad, Yash Dhull, was brought by Delhi for just 50 lakhs. The India Under-19 Captain has been in red hot form even after the successful under-19 tournament. Making his debut for the Delhi Ranji team in the 2021-22 season, Dhull has already impressed everyone with his shot-making and temperament. Yash averages 119.8 in the three matches that he has featured in for Delhi and has scored 479 runs in six innings, with his best being 200 not out!
Yash already ticks’ all the boxes needed for a T20 batter. Delhi, which has a fragile middle order, can use Yash Dhull as a floater. As we have seen, Dhull played some innovative and crafty shots in the under-19 tournament for India. The under-19 captain also played a match-winning inning of 110 in the semi-finals under pressure to take his team home.
Dhull can definitely be an asset to Delhi Capitals in the long run and can be groomed by the likes of Ricky Ponting and Shane Watson into a world-class batter. Delhi, who are currently in 6th position, need a stable batter in the middle order. As the Capital’s lineup is filled with explosive batters, someone like Yash can just be the batter they are missing in their lineup. Someone, who can play sensibly according to the situation, soaking in the pressure, and can also go all out if the situation demands as we have seen in the under-19 games.
