IPL 2022: 3 fast bowlers Chennai Super Kings should target in mega auction
Even though CSK were very good with both the willow and the ball in IPL 2021, there were some things they lacked.
CSK had one of the memorable nights in the IPL final of 2021 as they beat KKR with a comprehensive victory to lift the cup. After a rusty 2020 season, Dhoni’s words came true as they played much stronger.
In this season, the Men in Yellow had the firepower in both batting and bowling, which they lacked last season. Do not forget skipper Dhoni, as he made some unbelievable strategies that helped the Men in Yellow move forward.
Even though they were very good with both the willow and the ball, there were some things CSK lacked. And, it was the raw pace. A bowler who has a speed above 140 clicks every ball, even with the likes of Bravo, Hazlewood and Ngidi, they could not capitalize much.
But, a fast bowler with a raw pace is valuable in any T20 team. In teams like DC, they have got bowling stalwarts like Nortje and Rabada. In the upcoming mega auction, CSK should look at bowlers who can bowl at amazing speed.
Here are 3 fast bowlers CSK should target in the 2022 auction:
1. Lockie Ferguson
Lockie Ferguson should be one of the options CSK should look for. A firearm pacer, Lockie could pace up above 140 to 145 every ball. The Kiwi bowler has become a star in T20 cricket.
The Auckland bowler has a tally of 94 wickets in 84 matches at an average of 23.15 and at a fine economy rate of 7.55. The latter has played for KKR this 2021 season and has done superbly picking up wickets.
In the upcoming mega auction, if KKR does not include Lockie in their retained players, CSK should take the advantage of him.
2. Mitchell Starc
Mitchell Starc should be a pick for CSK in the mega auction. Known for his pace and belligerence, The Aussie quickie has been bowling spearhead for his nation. He has been one of the significant players for Australia in limited-overs cricket.
The Aussie speedster has sent the batsmen to the pavilion 150 times in 104 games in T20 cricket at a fine average of 18.62 and a superior economy rate of 7.26. Starc has played IPL before with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2014 and 2015.
Though he has not been in good form lately, Starc can be a worthy player for any team. Being a brilliant pace bowler at the start of the innings and in the death, Starc should be an aim for CSK for donning the Yellow jersey.
