IPL 2022: 3 players who can replace Suryakumar Yadav in Mumbai Indians’ playing XI against Delhi Capitals
Yadav is recovering from a thumb injury at NCA in Bengaluru and will miss Mumbai's opening game.
Mumbai Indians (MI), will be kick-starting their campaign on March 27, when they lock horns with the Delhi Capitals (DC). The Rohit Sharma-led MI is the most successful team in IPL history, as they hold five IPL trophies and two Champions League trophies in their cabinet.
Mumbai Indians retained Suryakumar Yadav when they drafted their four picks before the mega auction. But he is set to miss the opening fixture for his team as he has not recovered from the hairline fracture on his thumb. The 31-year-old sustained the injury last month during Team India’s T20I series against the West Indies.
He is currently recovering at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore. Because he has not recovered completely, he will not be seen playing in Mumbai’s first game against Delhi.
Here are Three Players Who Can Replace Suryakumar Yadav in MI’s XI against DC:
1. Dewald Brevis
Fondly known as “Baby AB”, the 18-year-old youngster is said to be a replica of the South African star AB de Villiers. Mumbai Indians recently shared a video of Brevis practicing in the nets where he was seen playing in ABD’s style, and his form of shots perfectly.
The kind of shots he was seen playing replicated those of ABD, as he hit the ball all over the stadium. He will be seen adopting the best from Sachin Tendulkar, whom he idolizes apart from de Villiers. The 360-degree shots are what Mumbai Indians will require from a player in Yadav’s absence.
One of the top buys for Mumbai Indians this year, Brevis was purchased for INR 3 crore. His performance at the U-19 World Cup won every cricket fan’s heart and grabbed everyone’s attention, and he will be one of the players to look out for in the tournament. He will be the perfect replacement for Yadav at No.3
