Mumbai Indians endured their worst ever season, as they finished last on the points tally for the first time in their illustrious IPL history. The five-time champions could manage to win just four games and were the first team to be knocked out of the playoff race. It took Rohit Sharma and Co. nine games to register their first points of the season.

A point may come later in the year when Rohit Sharma might have to relinquish apart his captaincy duties. The Indian batter has been appointed as the captain of India, across all three formats, something which will take a toll on him, going forward. The 35-year-old might step down from the MI captaincy role, after leading them to five titles.

Moreover, Rohit Sharma’s form in IPL 2022 hit a new low, as he failed to score even a single half-century. He managed to score just 268 runs in 14 innings, at an average of under 20. Mumbai certainly does have a few personnel who could take over the captaincy reigns from ‘The Hitman.’ Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah are among the leading candidates for the same.
