Indian Premier League (IPL ) 2022 has already lived up to the expectations. Only a few days into the tournament, we have witnessed some scintillating performances. From Rahul Tewatia’s last-over heroics to Pat Cummins’ unbeaten 56-run blitz in just 15 balls, there has been no dearth of excitement.

While some cricketers have made notable performances, many others are yet to take the tournament by storm. Many overseas cricketers, who landed in India with high expectations, have fallen flat. They have struggled to justify their hefty price tag. Although there is enough time to turn the tables, we take a look at 5 foreign cricketers, who have had a rough start to IPL 2022.

Here are 5 overseas players who have failed to justify their hefty price tag in IPL 2022

1.  Daniel Sams (INR 2.60 cr)

The 29-year-old all-rounder from Australia is known for his fiery spells with the new ball. His top-notch performances in the Big Bash League (BBL) earned him a contract with Mumbai Indians (MI) for a whopping price of INR 2.60 cr. However, his performance in the IPL 2022 has been a disaster so far.

In the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), he produced an unwanted record for himself. He bowled the second most expensive over in the history of IPL, conceding 35 runs in an over to compatriot Pat Cummins. Sams was eventually left out of the playing XI in the next couple of games.

He failed to live up to his name and his hefty price tag. Sams has managed to pick up only one wicket in three appearances at an economy of 12.64 runs per over. With the bat, the Aussie cricketer has only mustered seven runs. He will be looking for a chance to show his metal to the Mumbai Indians and the other teams.
