Everything went wrong for the five-time IPL champions – Mumbai Indians. Right from the auctions, there was a possibility of things going haywire as they were short of experienced campaigners in both the departments. But one player that they bagged for a price of INR 8.25 cr and was also benched for a substantial time turned out to be the biggest positive for MI this season, he is the powerful finisher, Tim David. He has been one of the finds of this IPL and has already made a name for himself in the form of a hard-hitting finisher.

After playing just two games and scoring a 12(8) and 1(3) respectively in the initial phase of the tournament, he was benched for a long period and was brought back when Mumbai was already knocked out of the tournament. But then he demonstrated his power-hitting abilities with knocks of 44 of 21 balls, 46 of 18 balls, and 34 of 11 balls. He scored a total of 186 runs in 8 innings with a thumping strike rate of 216.27. He smashed 16 sixes and one of them was the second-longest six of the season i.e. 114 meters.

His physical attributes like strong shoulders and tall height makes him a strong presence on the field. The ease with which he clears the ropes is his USP. His quickfire match-winning knocks of 30s and 40s helped Mumbai win four games out of their last 6 matches. When it comes to finishing, Mumbai has always relied on the veteran Kieron Pollard but now they have found one more match-winner in the form of Tim David.
