3. Kuldeep Yadav
The first three weeks of the 2022 IPL witnessed the redemption of Delhi Capitals’ (DC) Kuldeep Yadav. The young spinner, who has been struggling in the last couple of years, finally got a new wing to revive his career after he was roped in by DC at the mega auction. Earlier this year, the left-arm leg-spinner also got to play for India in the last match of the T20 series against Sri Lanka, where he didn’t get any wickets but was economical.
While playing for his new franchise in the ongoing IPL edition, the 27-year-old has performed well in every match. In five matches, the Uttar Pradesh-born player has taken 11 wickets in an economy of 8.24 runs per over, which includes his best spell of 4/35 against his former team, KKR. With 11 wickets, he stands in third place in the Purple Cap race.
In just five matches, he managed to win two Player of the Match awards for his brilliant bowling. Compared to the previous year, what makes him different this season is his pace variation in bowling. It is just a matter of time before he will make a comeback for India as a prime spinner. He will be one of the strong contenders to sit on the plane for the T20 World Cup.
