When Mukesh Chowdhary first burst onto the scene, everyone was complaining about the left-arm pacer’s lack of variation and wanted him to be replaced with another bowler. However, the Super Kings franchise had other ideas, with them repeatedly giving Mukesh an opportunity game after game.

The belief that the Chennai management had in him didn’t go wrong as Mukesh started to perform well with his turnaround moment coming against their arch-rivals Mumbai Indians in their first clash of the season between them. Mukesh would start brilliantly in the powerplay by picking up three early wickets. He would go on to finish his spell with his figures reading 3-19 in four overs. This was instrumental in CSK defeating Mumbai on that night and was also the start of a good run for the man from Rajasthan.

Even though Chennai Super Kings didn’t have a great season, the young pacer’s addition to their squad has given them a trustable left-arm fast bowler who can start the bowling attack along with Deepak Chahar during next year’s IPL. In his debut season, Mukesh Choudhary finished with 16 wickets which is a very impressive and surprising performance considering the lack of momentum he had at the start.
