IPL 2022: 5 retained/picked players who could've earned more money at the mega auction
These players would've certainly triggered a bidding war in the auction had they been released.
3. Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep Singh has impressed one and all with his left-arm pace as he became an overnight sensation in the IPL ever since he started playing for Punjab Kings in the 2019 edition. While Punjab have been unsuccessful in making the playoffs for seven seasons, the tall pacer has arguably been their most consistent performer for his ability to bowl yorkers at the death.
He finished the 2021 season with 18 scalps to his name from 12 games and was retained by the 2014 finalists for a whopping INR 4 crore which is 200% more than what he was offered last year. Just like Iyer and Gaikwad, even Arshdeep was bought for a sum of only INR 20 lakh in the auction.
The Guna cricketer could have definitely fetched some more money had he been released by the franchise and some other team could have picked him up for his ability to strike with the new ball and also at the back end of the innings.
