IPL 2022: 5 uncapped BBL stars who can be hot picks in mega auction
Over the years, leagues like the BBL, CPL and PSL are termed to be the auditioning platforms for an IPL ticket.
5. Jake Weatherald
From BBL’s seventh season onwards, Jake Weatherald has been one of the vital cogs of the team Adelaide Strikers. Since his debut in the sixth season, the cricketer has amassed more than 1600 runs from his 64 games at an average of under 29. The southpaw is also one of the highest all-time run-scorer of the team Adelaide.
However, in the 10th seaon, Weatherald produced one of his best seasons where the opener stacked a total of 433 runs at an average of 36.08 from his 15 games. As a top-order batter, the 27-year old is well popular for giving steadfast starts along with scoring big. The Australian apart from the BBL has also represented Quetta Gladiators in the PSL.
For IPL franchises, Weatherald’s gameplay can be considered analogous especially to what the likes of Quinton De Kock, Devon Conway offers. All in all, maybe for the two new IPL teams, Weatherald can become a reserve for their frontline openers.
