IPL 2022: 5 uncapped Indian players who impressed
Players like Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, and Yuzvendra Chahal have all risen from the IPL to become stars of the Indian cricket team.
4. Umran Malik
Umran Malik has been the talk of the town in the 15th edition of the IPL because of his sheer pace. Umran has consistently hit close to 150 kmph in IPL 2022 and this raw pace is hard to find in India. With that kind of pace, the right-arm pacer troubled the best batters in the business. With a bit of consistency and experience, the 22-year-old has the potential to deliver the same at the highest level of the game.
Umran is the most impressive fast bowler of the season. His fiery pace has earned enormous praise from world’s fastest bowler Shoaib Akhtar to Australia’s great pacer Breet lee. The Jammu and Kashmir pacer bowled the fastest delivery of the season clocking 157 kmph in the match against Delhi Capitals. The speedster is the only bowler who can bowl effortlessly at this pace.
Umran, who was retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of the mega auction had a breakout season. Overall, he has picked up 22 wickets in 14 matches at an average of 20.18 and became the youngest bowler to scalp more than 20 wickets in one season. His best performance came against the Gujarat Titans, where he picked up his first five-wicket haul in the IPL and ended his spell with 5/25. After a terrific IPL season, Umran has received his maiden call-up to the Indian team for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa.
