IPL 2022: List of retained players, salary purse, expected mega auction date and more

The 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to be a 10-team affair after two new teams, Ahmedabad and Lucknow joined them. The retentions for the upcoming edition took place a couple of weeks ago and the eight existing teams made their picks. While a number of picks were pretty much expected, a few of them raised quite a significant number of eyebrows.
The eight teams have already submitted their retention list to the Board of Control for Cricket in India. As per reports, the IPL 2022 mega auction is set to take place in the last week of December or the first week of January. A number of big names, including Shreyas Iyer, Rashid Khan, Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan will go under the hammer in the mega auction.

The BCCI hasn’t yet put forth the official dates of the mega auction. But if reports are to be believed, it will take place either in the last week of December or first week of January.
IPL 2022 salary purse
The BCCI has increased the salary purse for the IPL 2022 auction from INR 85 crores to INR 90 crores. Earlier, the eight teams were allowed to retain a maximum of four players.
IPL 2022 Retention Rules
As far as the two new teams, Ahmedabad and Lucknow are concerned, they will have to pick three players – 2 domestic and one overseas – from December 1 to December 25. They have to take players from the released pool of players.
