Match 5 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 will see Sunrisers Hyderabad taking on Rajasthan Royals at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Both sides will kick-start their campaign with this clash, and needless to mention, would want to make a winning start. Notably, both sides went under massive revamp in the last month’s mega auction and their line-ups would be to watch out for.
Both teams are looking pretty strong on paper and do not have any major unavailability issues, unlike many franchises. Kane Williamson is set to lead the Orange Army once again, but this time he won’t have the assistance of David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, or Rashid Khan. SRH have retained their Indian contingent with the likes of Abdul Samad, Umran Malik, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Abhishek Sharma, and T Natarajan in the ranks.
However, the overseas unit looks a lot different with the likes of Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram coming into the picture. The side looks pretty formidable on paper but the players have to perform to their potential to take SRH over the line. As far as RR are concerned, they were one of the most impressive teams in the auction event.
While skipper Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, and Yashasvi Jaiswal were RR’s mandatory retentions, they bought big guns like Shimron Hetmyer, Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal and Trent Boult in the mega auction. It’s a good mix of youth and experience in the side and hence, many are backing the Men in Pink to go a long way.
Meanwhile, here’s a look at how the weather will behave during the SRH vs RR clash:
Fortunately for the fans, rain will continue to stay away from the IPL matches this season. The game has a 7.30 PM start and, historically, temperature in Pune cools down in the evening. Hence, the weather conditions would be pretty cricket-friendly. However, the dew factor is all but likely to play a part in the latter half of the game. This means opting to bowl will continue to be the mantra of toss-winning captains.
