Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings will face each other at Brabourne Stadium on Thursday, 31st March in IPL 2022. While this is the debut IPL season for LSG, their opponents CSK are the most successful team in the history of the tournament, winning sixty percent of their matches. Both the teams had begun this IPL season with a loss at the Wankhede Stadium.

It is agreeable that dew played a substantial role in their games, but this cannot hide the top-order failure for both teams. After the wicket of KL Rahul right off the first ball of the match, Lucknow lost three more big names – Quinton de Kock, Evin Lewis, and Manish Pandey – in quick succession against the Gujarat Titans. With Ayush Badoni scoring a fifty on debut and a fifty by Deepak Hooda as well, Lucknow got to a decent total despite their star players not doing well. Their bowling, which lacked big match experience, couldn’t defend it.

CSK also had a similar recovery after being 61/5 at one stage. Now no longer the captain, MS Dhoni played a key role with captain Ravindra Jadeja at the other end. In the bowling, Dwayne Bravo bowled brilliantly but lacked the support from the other end. Whether CSK’s recruits can help continue the team’s legacy of dominating the IPL shall be seen in the subsequent matches.

Meanwhile, here are some of the important stats and numbers ahead of Match 7 between Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League 2022:
