With the addition of two new franchises, IPL 2022 has been a bigger and grander affair as compared to previous seasons. We are just one week into the competition, and fans have already witnessed several memorable moments. A few franchises have been quick to get off the blocks, and have had near-perfect starts to their campaign. On the other hand, some franchises are still trying to figure out their best playing combination.

Reigning champions of IPL, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2022-flop-overseas-xi-after-first-week-of-the-tournament/">Chennai Super Kings</a> have had a horrendous start to their campaign, something which gives flashbacks of the 2020 season. The Men in Yellow have lost their opening three encounters, and are in a spot of bother. Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad are the two other teams who are yet to register points on the board.

Two teams that seem to look solid as a unit are Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals, as they have claimed two back-to-back wins. These are still early days in the two-month-long competition, but here we predict where each team could end up on the points table.

It is not often that we see Chennai Super Kings languish at the bottom of the points tally. In the 12 seasons, they have competed, the four-time champions have failed to reach the playoffs just once in 2020. The problem with the current set-up spreads across all departments, with CSK being outplayed in two of their three losses so far. Skipper Hardik Pandya has been taking up more responsibilities and has bowled his full quota of four overs in both matches. ICC T20 Player of the last Decade, Rashid Khan is always there to capitalize on the base set up by the fast bowlers.

They have won two of their initial three matches, and are placed in the top four at the moment. KKR remain strong contenders to at least make it to the top four, given that they have a well-rounded side. With Pat Cummins&#8217; addition, their bowling attack is only going to get better and stronger.

Umesh Yadav has somewhat been a surprise package this season, claiming eight wickets in three games. Tim Southee has also made his experience count and has picked up five wickets in two games. Delhi Capitals have had an edgy start to this season. Their lower-middle order took their side past the finishing line against Mumbai Indians in a thrilling run-chase. However, the Capitals faltered in a manageable-looking chase against Gujarat Titans. This Delhi side is only going to get better as the season progresses, with the addition of David Warner, Mitchell Marsh and Anrich Nortje to the playing 11 in the upcoming week.

Warner has been a consistent performer at the top of the order in <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2022-ranking-teams-based-on-their-super-over-combination/">IPL</a> over the years, and him opening the batting with Prithvi Shaw could signal danger for the opposition. Lucknow Super Giants has done an exceptional job in assembling a robust squad. The new franchise has found the perfect opening pair in the form of KL Rahul and Quinton De Kock. They have a bunch of all-rounders in their squad, with the likes of Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya. Moreover, overseas stars like Jason Holder and Marcus Stoinis are also in the ranks.

The Men in Yellow have lost their opening three encounters, and are in a spot of bother. Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad are the two other teams who are yet to register points on the board.
Two teams that seem to look solid as a unit are Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals, as they have claimed two back-to-back wins. These are still early days in the two-month-long competition, but here we predict where each team could end up on the points table.

It is not often that we see Chennai Super Kings languish at the bottom of the points tally. In the 12 seasons, they have competed, the four-time champions have failed to reach the playoffs just once in 2020. The problem with the current set-up spreads across all departments, with CSK being outplayed in two of their three losses so far. MS Dhoni handed over the captaincy of the side to <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/we-are-lucky-to-have-his-advice-ravindra-jadeja-on-ms-dhoni-helping-out-with-captaincy-experience/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ravindra Jadeja</a> just before the tournament, which seems to have affected the dynamic of the team.
Ruturaj Gaikwad has been accustomed to slow starts in the IPL, and this season has been no different. With Faf du Plessis missing at the top, there are a few loopholes in their batting order. Jadeja has certainly not been able to express himself freely, after being handed over the captaincy.
The bowling department has been exploited in several instances in the game, and the defending champions will desperately want to see Deepak Chahar return from injury. Unless things change drastically, and quickly, Chennai Super Kings could finish at the bottom of the points tally.

Skipper Kane Williamson was dismissed for just two runs against the Royals, whereas, Nicholas Pooran was dismissed without scoring.
For Sunrisers Hyderabad to do well this season, they must ensure that the batting trio of Kane Williamson, Nicholas Pooran, and Aiden Markram chip in with runs consistently. There is no doubting Nicholas Pooran&#8217;s talent, but he has a tendency of being inconsistent, which might cost his side dearly. The Orange Army&#8217;s bowling attack remains their strength, but they were all over the place against Rajasthan, conceding over 200 runs.

With two wins from three games, Punjab Kings have gotten off to an impressive start in IPL 2022. A new-look Punjab Kings side, led by Mayank Agarwal, chased down a gigantic total against Royal Challengers Bangalore, and completely outplayed Chennai Super Kings. However, despite their promising start to the campaign, there is still quite a bit of questions yet to be answered.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have had a mixed start to their campaign, with one win and loss each from their two games.
