Punjab Kings have revealed their new jersey ahead of the upcoming IPL 2022 season. Red and gold has been the colour code for the Punjab Kings since long and there haven’t been many changes in comparison to their last year’s jersey.
The franchise opted to change their name from Kings XI Punjab last year expecting a change in their fortunes but they are yet to win an IPL trophy since the inaugural edition in 2008. The franchise came very close to winning in IPL 2014 under the leadership of George Bailey but lost to Kolkata Knight Riders in the finals. Meanwhile, the fans will be hoping that the launch of new jersey might bring luck to their side.
Meanwhile, the franchise retained the likes of Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction while their previous skipper KL Rahul joined the new franchise Lucknow Super Giants. Agarwal was recently named the captain of the franchise for the upcoming season and they have made some really good buys in the mega auction.
The Punjab Kings roped in veteran batter Shikhar Dhawan to open alongside Agarwal, while destructive batters like Liam Livingstone, Jonny Bairstow will fill up the middle-order with Shahrukh Khan to do the finishing duties. Kagiso Rabada and Rahul Chahar are seasoned campaigners and they will offer a lot to the franchise’s bowling department.

Punjab Kings will take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore in their first game of IPL 2022 on the 27th of March at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. With ten teams competing against each other in this year’s IPL, the BCCI opted to categorise the teams into two groups on the basis of their IPL titles and the number of finals they haveplayed. Punjab Kings are placed in Group B alongside Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Gujarat Titans.
