7. Punjab Kings – 6.5/10
Punjab Kings started their campaign in the 2022 season in style by chasing 206 against RCB in their first game. Their bowlers were hammered by the RCB batters as Faf looked flamboyant against them. The Punjab batters looked determined right from the start of the innings. They chased down the target with an over to spare.
The Mohali-based franchise played two games in the first week of the season. After registering a good win against RCB, PBKS suffered a loss against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday. KKR defeated Punjab by six wickets. The batting line-up of Punjab, which looked great in the first game, had an ordinary outing in the second game.
PBKS lost their captain Mayank Agarwal in the very first over of the game. Despite Mayank’s early wicket, PBKS started well as Bhanuka Rajapaksa took the charge and smashed 31 runs off just nine balls before getting dismissed by Shivam Mavi. They managed to put a fighting total of 137 on the board with the help of a good cameo from Kagiso Rabada at last. KKR chased down the target in just 14.3 overs.
