The cricket extravaganza has already started entertaining the cricket fans. IPL 2022 began on the 26th of March with a battle between the Chennai Super Kings and the Kolkata Knight Riders wherein KKR thrashed CSK quite easily. We have seen some incredible performances with both bat and ball in the first week of the 15th edition of the <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/t20/ipl-indian-premier-league/">IPL</a>.

Only eight games have been played as of now, but we have seen targets in excess of 200 being chased down two times. The trailer of the season has been full of fire and hopefully, the full season will be the best in the history of the league. The new captains of the teams have shown everyone why they are there.

Be it Faf du Plessis, Shreyas Iyer, or Mayank Agarwal, each of the new captains has been very impressive. We have also seen the young talents making full use of the opportunities, especially LSG’s Ayush Badoni. Badoni has impressed everyone and is being praised highly. All in all, too much happened in the first week of the tournament.

Here, we will try to rate the teams as per their performances of the week:

10. Chennai Super Kings – 5/10

The defending champions are still in search of their first win of the season despite playing two games. <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/t20/ipl-indian-premier-league/csk-chennai-super-kings/">CSK</a> played the first game of the season against KKR and were defeated by six wickets. In their second fixture, they were defeated by LSG despite scoring 210 while batting first. LSG chased down the target with three balls to spare.

The biggest concern for CSK has been their bowling. Unlike previous seasons, they have an inexperienced bowling attack in the absence of Deepak Chahar. They made three changes in their second game despite the fact that CSK has been a franchise that does not believe in experimenting too much.

CSK will have to find the momentum to get going in the tournament. These are just the initial days of the season and they have a long time to get into the rhythm. The champion opener of CSK, who had the orange cap on his head last season, has failed in both the games. The batting of CSK certainly depends a lot on Ruturaj Gaikwad.

9. Sunrisers Hyderabad – 5.5/10

The <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/t20/ipl-indian-premier-league/srh-sunrisers-hyderabad/">Sunrisers Hyderabad</a> finished the last season at the bottom of the table and their first game in 2022 was also quite like the previous season. SRH lost their first game against Rajasthan Royals by a big margin of 61 runs. SRH was once considered the best bowling line-up in the league but things definitely have changed now.

Except for Bhuvneshwar Kumar, every SRH bowler went for runs. The RR batters completely dominated the SRH bowling line-up. Even Washington Sundar, who is known to be economical with the ball, got hammered for a lot of runs. They were seen missing the spin wizard Rashid Khan in that game.

The top-order of the Hyderabad-based franchise looked clueless in front of Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna. Markram fought quite well during the middle overs but his runs were not enough. Sundar played a quickfire cameo in the last few overs but it was too late. Hopefully, SRH’s top order will contribute a lot more.

8. Mumbai Indians – 6/10

The only team that is getting to play home games, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/t20/ipl-indian-premier-league/mi-mumbai-indians/">Mumbai Indians</a> played just one game in the first week of IPL 2021 and were defeated by Delhi Capitals. The most successful IPL franchise looked very comfortable in terms of batting, but they have some serious issues with their bowling. They will have to fix it very soon.

MI played their first game of the season against DC on the 27th of March. Mumbai scored 177 batting first, featuring a masterclass from Ishan Kishan. Kishan did not disappoint the Mumbai-based franchise, scoring 81 off 48 balls. Skipper Rohit Sharma also played a good innings. Young Tilak Varma was impressive but none of the other guys looked comfortable.

They missed Suryakumar Yadav a lot. As far as their bowling is concerned, their strike bowler Jasprit Bumrah looked very unsettled. He got hit for 43 off the 3.2 overs he bowled. They certainly need a good bowler for the new ball. They went with Daniel Sams but he was hit for plenty. Murugan Ashwin was the only MI bowler who looked in touch.

7. Punjab Kings – 6.5/10

<a href="https://www.crictracker.com/t20/ipl-indian-premier-league/punjab-kings/">Punjab Kings</a> started their campaign in the 2022 season in style by chasing 206 against RCB in their first game. Their bowlers were hammered by the RCB batters as Faf looked flamboyant against them. The Punjab batters looked determined right from the start of the innings. They chased down the target with an over to spare.

The Mohali-based franchise played two games in the first week of the season. After registering a good win against RCB, PBKS suffered a loss against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday. KKR defeated Punjab by six wickets. The batting line-up of Punjab, which looked great in the first game, had an ordinary outing in the second game.

PBKS lost their captain Mayank Agarwal in the very first over of the game. Despite Mayank’s early wicket, PBKS started well as Bhanuka Rajapaksa took the charge and smashed 31 runs off just nine balls before getting dismissed by Shivam Mavi. They managed to put a fighting total of 137 on the board with the help of a good cameo from Kagiso Rabada at last. KKR chased down the target in just 14.3 overs.

6. Lucknow Supergiants – 6.5/10

There were some positives for LSG alongside some serious issues to fix soon. LSG missed the two all-rounders and that was reflected quite clearly in their game. Nonetheless, Marcus Stoinis and Jason Holder will join their camp soon.

LSG played their first-ever IPL game against Gujarat Titans on the 28th of March. The LSG top-order collapsed quite early but Deepak Hooda and the young sensation Ayush Badoni built a good partnership and led LSG to a good total. They put 158 runs on the board but the runs were not enough to restrict the GT batters.

Gujarat won the game by five wickets. LSG then registered their first win against CSK, chasing down a mammoth total of 210. Both LSG openers &#8211; KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock &#8211; got the team to a good start while chasing and Evin Lewis finished the game. Lewis played a gutsy knock, scoring 55 runs off 23 balls, and he got a good partner in the form of Ayush Badoni.

5. Royal Challengers Bangalore – 7/10

The <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/t20/ipl-indian-premier-league/rcb-royal-challengers-bangalore/">Royal Challengers Bangalore</a> played two games and they had decent outings. They lost their first game despite putting 205 on the board. They couldn&#8217;t defend the score against Punjab Kings. Nevertheless, RCB’s batting looked full of fire. Almost every one of the RCB batters looked in touch.

Faf du Plessis started his season in style, scoring a fiery 88 off 57 balls. Virat Kohli also played a good innings. He scored 41 off 29 balls. Both of the batters accelerated in the middle overs. Dinesh Karthik came in the death overs and smashed 32 off just 14 balls. Despite having a great batting display by RCB, they lost the game with one over to spare.

In the second game, they bowled first and restricted KKR to 128 runs, bowling them out in 18.5 overs. Wanindu Hasaranga bowled a great spell, picking up four wickets for just 20 runs. Young Akash Deep also bowled pretty well. Chasing 129 was not easy for RCB but they eventually chased down the target with some good shots from DK at last.

4. Gujarat Titans – 7.5/10

The newest IPL franchise played only a single game in the first week of the season and they thrashed the Lucknow Supergiants by five wickets. The <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/t20/ipl-indian-premier-league/gujarat-titans/">GT</a> bowlers were spot on with their plans and the execution was brilliant. Gujarat would be very satisfied with their win and hopefully, they will continue the momentum in the upcoming fixtures.

Mohammed Shami shone with the new ball, dismissing three of the LSG batters in his opening spell. Shami dismissed the LSG skipper KL Rahul off the first ball of the game with a classy outswinger. Lockie Ferguson also looked in good rhythm. Rashid Khan being Rashid Khan bowled a decent spell.

Matthew Wade played a steady innings and gave GT a positive start. The skipper Hardik Pandya played some good shots and he was very impactful. David Miller smashed a couple of sixes and made some quickfire runs. Rahul Tewatia and Abhinav Manohar Sadarangani finished the game and GT got the two precious points.

3. Delhi Capitals – 7.5/10

Rishabh Pant’s <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/t20/ipl-indian-premier-league/dc-delhi-capitals/">Delhi Capitals</a> looked quite sorted in the only game that they played. They chased down 178 against Mumbai Indians in the 19th over. They have a brilliant batting line-up with David Warner yet to join the DC camp. The DC bowlers also had a good day. They will play their next game on Saturday (April 2) against Gujarat Titans.

The flamboyant DC opener Prithvi Shaw batted as he usually does. He gave a good start to DC while chasing, with a good cameo from Tim Seifert as well. The most impressive performers for DC were Lalit Yadav and Axar Patel. They both, especially Axar played brilliantly and finished the game elegantly.

The left-arm wrist-spinner, Kuldeep Yadav had a fabulous outing against MI. In his four overs, he picked up three wickets for just 18 runs. He committed serious damage to MI’s batting line-up. Khaleel Ahmed also used the new ball quite well. Khaleel had two wickets to his name. They will play the next games with a lot of positives.

2. Kolkata Knight Riders – 8/10

KKR started their season with a good win against CSK in the season opener, chasing down the target of 132 with nine balls to spare. The good news for KKR is the contribution of Ajinkya Rahane at the top of the batting order.

Sam Billings also looked in good touch as he was very confident while playing his shots in the middle-order. Venkatesh Iyer, Nitish Rana, and the skipper Shreyas Iyer are yet to make their mark in the season. Andre Russell played a quickfire knock of 70 runs off 31 balls in their third game. Russell coming back to form is a piece of great news for them.

KKR’s bowling has been brilliant in all three of the games. Umesh Yadav has been spitting fire with the new ball. He picked a couple of wickets in the first two games and a four-wicket haul in the third game. The spin duo of KKR &#8211; Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy &#8211; has performed the same way they were expected to do. They will form a great bowling line-up with the arrival of Pat Cummins in the upcoming games.

They lost their first game despite putting 205 on the board. They couldn’t defend the score against Punjab Kings. Nevertheless, RCB’s batting looked full of fire. Almost every one of the RCB batters looked in touch.
Faf du Plessis started his season in style, scoring a fiery 88 off 57 balls. Virat Kohli also played a good innings. He scored 41 off 29 balls. Both of the batters accelerated in the middle overs. Dinesh Karthik came in the death overs and smashed 32 off just 14 balls. Despite having a great batting display by RCB, they lost the game with one over to spare.

The newest IPL franchise played only a single game in the first week of the season and they thrashed the Lucknow Supergiants by five wickets. The <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/t20/ipl-indian-premier-league/gujarat-titans/">GT</a> bowlers were spot on with their plans and the execution was brilliant. Gujarat would be very satisfied with their win and hopefully, they will continue the momentum in the upcoming fixtures.
Mohammed Shami shone with the new ball, dismissing three of the LSG batters in his opening spell. Shami dismissed the LSG skipper KL Rahul off the first ball of the game with a classy outswinger. Lockie Ferguson also looked in good rhythm. Rashid Khan being Rashid Khan bowled a decent spell.
Matthew Wade played a steady innings and gave GT a positive start. The skipper Hardik Pandya played some good shots and he was very impactful. David Miller smashed a couple of sixes and made some quickfire runs. Rahul Tewatia and Abhinav Manohar Sadarangani finished the game and GT got the two precious points.

They chased down 178 against Mumbai Indians in the 19th over. They have a brilliant batting line-up with David Warner yet to join the DC camp. The DC bowlers also had a good day. They will play their next game on Saturday (April 2) against Gujarat Titans.
The flamboyant DC opener Prithvi Shaw batted as he usually does. He gave a good start to DC while chasing, with a good cameo from Tim Seifert as well. The most impressive performers for DC were Lalit Yadav and Axar Patel. They both, especially Axar played brilliantly and finished the game elegantly.
The left-arm wrist-spinner, Kuldeep Yadav had a fabulous outing against MI. In his four overs, he picked up three wickets for just 18 runs. He committed serious damage to MI’s batting line-up. Khaleel Ahmed also used the new ball quite well. Khaleel had two wickets to his name. They will play the next games with a lot of positives.

2. Kolkata Knight Riders – 8/10

KKR started their season with a good win against CSK in the season opener, chasing down the target of 132 with nine balls to spare. The good news for KKR is the contribution of Ajinkya Rahane at the top of the batting order.
Sam Billings also looked in good touch as he was very confident while playing his shots in the middle-order. Venkatesh Iyer, Nitish Rana, and the skipper Shreyas Iyer are yet to make their mark in the season. Andre Russell played a quickfire knock of 70 runs off 31 balls in their third game. Russell coming back to form is a piece of great news for them.

The Rajasthan Royals showed SRH a great batting display, scoring 210 runs in their first game of the season. RR has played just a single game as of now, but they won that game in a very convincing manner. The Royals had no areas of concern in that game and all of the things went in their favour.
Hopefully, they will continue to play the upcoming games with the same amount of positivity. The RR openers gave a good start to the team which was carried forward by skipper Sanju Samson. Devdutt Padikkal was given a new role and he did not disappoint, scoring 41 runs off 29 balls batting at number four.
The RR bowlers had a good day, restricting SRH to 149 runs for seven wickets. Boult moved the new ball quite well. He got important wickets of Nicholas Pooran and <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/we-recognised-hes-an-outstanding-all-rounder-srh-coach-tom-moody-lauds-washington-sundar/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Washington Sundar</a>. Prasidh Krishna was impressive as well. Boult and Krishna made a good new-ball pair. Yuzvendra Chahal got three wickets and looked in great touch.

The cricket extravaganza has already started entertaining the cricket fans. IPL 2022 began on the 26th of March with a battle between the Chennai Super Kings and the Kolkata Knight Riders wherein KKR thrashed CSK quite easily. We have seen some incredible performances with both bat and ball in the first week of the 15th edition of the <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/t20/ipl-indian-premier-league/">IPL</a>.
Only eight games have been played as of now, but we have seen targets in excess of 200 being chased down two times. The trailer of the season has been full of fire and hopefully, the full season will be the best in the history of the league. The new captains of the teams have shown everyone why they are there.
Be it Faf du Plessis, Shreyas Iyer, or Mayank Agarwal, each of the new captains has been very impressive. We have also seen the young talents making full use of the opportunities, especially LSG’s Ayush Badoni. Badoni has impressed everyone and is being praised highly. All in all, too much happened in the first week of the tournament.

<h3>10. Chennai Super Kings – 5/10</h3>

The defending champions are still in search of their first win of the season despite playing two games. <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/t20/ipl-indian-premier-league/csk-chennai-super-kings/">CSK</a> played the first game of the season against KKR and were defeated by six wickets. In their second fixture, they were defeated by LSG despite scoring 210 while batting first. LSG chased down the target with three balls to spare.
The biggest concern for CSK has been their bowling. Unlike previous seasons, they have an inexperienced bowling attack in the absence of Deepak Chahar. They made three changes in their second game despite the fact that CSK has been a franchise that does not believe in experimenting too much.
CSK will have to find the momentum to get going in the tournament. These are just the initial days of the season and they have a long time to get into the rhythm. The champion opener of CSK, who had the orange cap on his head last season, has failed in both the games. The batting of CSK certainly depends a lot on Ruturaj Gaikwad.

9. Sunrisers Hyderabad – 5.5/10

The <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/t20/ipl-indian-premier-league/srh-sunrisers-hyderabad/">Sunrisers Hyderabad</a> finished the last season at the bottom of the table and their first game in 2022 was also quite like the previous season. SRH lost their first game against Rajasthan Royals by a big margin of 61 runs. SRH was once considered the best bowling line-up in the league but things definitely have changed now.
Except for Bhuvneshwar Kumar, every SRH bowler went for runs. The RR batters completely dominated the SRH bowling line-up. Even Washington Sundar, who is known to be economical with the ball, got hammered for a lot of runs. They were seen missing the spin wizard Rashid Khan in that game.
The top-order of the Hyderabad-based franchise looked clueless in front of Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna. Markram fought quite well during the middle overs but his runs were not enough. Sundar played a quickfire cameo in the last few overs but it was too late. Hopefully, SRH’s top order will contribute a lot more.

8. Mumbai Indians – 6/10

The only team that is getting to play home games, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/t20/ipl-indian-premier-league/mi-mumbai-indians/">Mumbai Indians</a> played just one game in the first week of IPL 2021 and were defeated by Delhi Capitals. The most successful IPL franchise looked very comfortable in terms of batting, but they have some serious issues with their bowling. They will have to fix it very soon.
MI played their first game of the season against DC on the 27th of March. Mumbai scored 177 batting first, featuring a masterclass from Ishan Kishan. Kishan did not disappoint the Mumbai-based franchise, scoring 81 off 48 balls. Skipper Rohit Sharma also played a good innings. Young Tilak Varma was impressive but none of the other guys looked comfortable.
They missed Suryakumar Yadav a lot. As far as their bowling is concerned, their strike bowler Jasprit Bumrah looked very unsettled. He got hit for 43 off the 3.2 overs he bowled. They certainly need a good bowler for the new ball. They went with Daniel Sams but he was hit for plenty. Murugan Ashwin was the only MI bowler who looked in touch.

7. Punjab Kings – 6.5/10

The Mohali-based franchise played two games in the first week of the season. After registering a good win against RCB, PBKS suffered a loss against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday. KKR defeated Punjab by six wickets. The batting line-up of Punjab, which looked great in the first game, had an ordinary outing in the second game.
PBKS lost their captain Mayank Agarwal in the very first over of the game. Despite Mayank’s early wicket, PBKS started well as Bhanuka Rajapaksa took the charge and smashed 31 runs off just nine balls before getting dismissed by Shivam Mavi. They managed to put a fighting total of 137 on the board with the help of a good cameo from Kagiso Rabada at last. KKR chased down the target in just 14.3 overs.

6. Lucknow Supergiants – 6.5/10

The LSG top-order collapsed quite early but Deepak Hooda and the young sensation Ayush Badoni built a good partnership and led LSG to a good total. They put 158 runs on the board but the runs were not enough to restrict the GT batters.
Gujarat won the game by five wickets. LSG then registered their first win against CSK, chasing down a mammoth total of 210. Both LSG openers &#8211; KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock &#8211; got the team to a good start while chasing and Evin Lewis finished the game. Lewis played a gutsy knock, scoring 55 runs off 23 balls, and he got a good partner in the form of Ayush Badoni.
