Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter Riyan Parag is facing a lot of heat from the franchise’s fans on social media. The right-handed batter has managed to score just 43 runs in the past five matches in this Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 edition. After failing to impress in the last match against Gujarat Titans (GT), Parag is being heavily criticized by the RR fans.

The 20-year-old walked into the crease against GT with his team chasing a huge total of 193 runs. A lot was expected from the right-handed batter to power RR’s chase. However, Parag yet again failed to live up to everyone’s expectations. The 20-year-old scored 18 runs in 16 balls before getting scalped by Kiwi pacer Lockie Ferguson.

After failing to perform, Parag faced the wrath of RR fans with some saying that the Assamese batter should just do ‘Bihu’ (dance) and forget about playing cricket. Some of them also said that the batter should be improving his game as the legendary Sachin Tendulkar was dealing with a million fans at his age.

Parag was purchased by RR for a big price of INR 3.8 crore

The right-handed batter was bagged by the Royals for a huge price of INR 3.8 crore during the IPL 2022 mega auction. However, he is yet to give his best for the Jaipur-based franchise. In the IPL 2022 so far, Parag has recorded scores of 12, 5, 8 and 18 to his name. His only wicket came in the form of Shubman Gill against GT.

Parag made his IPL debut in 2019 when he was roped in by the Royals and has been representing the franchise since then. Talking about his numbers in IPL, the 20-year-old has played 35 matches and has scored 382 runs at an average of 15.92. He has only one half-century in the tournament, which came against the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2019 edition. In bowling, the off-spinner has managed to scalp just four wickets in 25.1 overs. He is very expensive as well, giving runs at an economy rate of 10.25.
