IPL 2022: Virat Kohli gives quick back massage to Glenn Maxwell during RR vs RCB match
While Bangalore pulled off a well-deserved win in a tense run chase, the RCB dressing room environment looked to be pretty relaxed.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore halted Rajasthan Royals’ winning run with a four-wicket victory during their IPL 2022 fixture at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 5. RCB’s middle-order carried out the rescue act for the side just when it appeared that the RR bowlers would once again succeed in defending their total as they had done on the previous two occasions.
While Bangalore pulled off a well-deserved win in a tense run chase, the RCB dressing room environment looked to be pretty relaxed. However, the focus was on Virat Kohli, who seemingly looked calm and composed as he was seen giving a massage to Glenn Maxwell.

During the 15th over of Bangalore’s chase after Dinesh Karthik had struck a boundary on the second delivery, the cameras focused on Kohli who gave a quick back and shoulder massage to Glenn Maxwell in the dressing room while skipper Faf du Plessis and others seated over there looked on.

Both Kohli and Maxwell were two of the franchise’s mandatory retentions for IPL 2022. The Australian all-rounder recently tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend Vini Raman. He had made himself unavailable for Australia’s just-concluded bilateral series in Pakistan for the occasion. The power-hitter will only be able to participate in the ongoing tournament after April 5 due to Cricket Australia (CA)’s central contract rules.
Kohli, on the other hand, will be looking forward to making his bat do the talking. Apart from his unbeaten 41 runs from 29 deliveries in the season opener against Punjab Kings, the batting megastar has only managed 17 runs in the next two games. He was run out for just five runs in the second game courtesy of brilliant acrobatic skills from RR skipper Sanju Samson. The 2016 Orange Cap winner would be hoping to make a statement in the next match.
RCB will next be seen in action against the Mumbai Indians at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on April 9.
