Veteran leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was up against his former franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Tuesday (April 5). Chahal, who was associated with RCB since 2014, enjoyed a gala time with the franchise and took a plethora of wickets. Surprisingly, however, neither did RCB retain the leg-spinner, nor did they buy him in the IPL 2022 mega auction. Rajasthan Royals eventually bagged the leggie’s services for INR 6.5 crore and Chahal is living up to the expectations.

Although the Men in Pink suffered a four-wicket defeat against RCB, Chahal delivered a spectacular spell, conceding just 15 runs in four overs and taking a couple of wickets in the process. Meanwhile, another reason why Chahal bagged the limelight in the game is for his efforts to dismiss his former skipper Virat Kohli.

Yuzvendra Chahal won the much-anticipated battle against Virat Kohli

The 33-year-old was dismissed via a run-out courtesy of an outstanding fielding display from RR captain Sanju Samson and Chahal. It was the eighth over of RCB’s chase and Kohli sought a run after the ball was deflected off on-strike batter David Willey’s pads. Samson quickly threw the ball at the bowler’s end and Chahal also did well in collecting the ball neatly and dislodging the stumps.

The replay showed Kohli was short of his crease and he had to walk back after scoring five off six deliveries. Meanwhile, Chahal’s efforts to dismiss Kohli ignited a meme fest on Twitter as the duo shared the RCB dressing room for eight seasons. The leg-spinner has even credited Kohli for his rise.

As Chahal is no more a part of the Bangalore camp, friends have turned foes and netizens have a hilarious way to highlight the same. Meanwhile, the leg-spinner’s stellar efforts eventually went in vain as RCB chased down 170 with five balls to spare, clinching the contest by four wickets. Dinesh Karthik and Shahbaz Ahmed provided RCB the much-needed impetus in the slog overs as the Faf du Plessis-led side recorded its second victory of the season.

Meanwhile, let’s look at how Twitter reacted to Virat Kohli’s dismissal:
