IPL 2022: Wasim Jaffer, Nikhil Chopra predict best bowling teams in second half of the tournament
Both the experts chose Royals and Sunrisers as their top picks.
The Indian Premier League 2022 has already seen more than half the scheduled games being culminated. In the first half of the season, the pitch was suited to the batters, with their being some purchase for the pacers. The team often chose to chase down the score due to the dew factor in the second innings. However, as the summer is progressing, the outfields have been dry and the pitches have developed some rough patches, which have provided help to the spinners.
Former cricketers Nikhil Chopra and Wasim Jaffer selected the teams which can do even better in the latter half of the season with the ball. Chopra chose Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Gujarat Titans as his picks. He reckoned that the Royals are a dangerous team, with the strong partnership of pacers and spinners.
“I think the way Rajasthan Royals defended their total against RCB was phenomenal, and they are a very dangerous team. With the pace bowling, they have the presence of quality spinners, which is making a big difference. The partnership is very important, and that’s why they are doing well. Hyderabad is winning matches on the virtue of their bowling attack, while Gujarat has a good attack as well,” said Chopra on Sky247.net presents ‘Not Just Cricket Show’ on CricTracker.
Jaffer also said that the Royals have to be at top of this list as they defended 144 against RCB. He added that Varun Chakravarthy can find his wicket-taking form and can be lethal with Sunil Narine, with the pitches gradually starting to help the spinners . Jaffer further added that if Washington Sundar recovers from the injury, it can be a terrific bowling attack for SRH with the quality pacers.
“There are no surprises, Rajasthan has to be at the top due to the way they defended their low total against RCB. I will then pick KKR only because of Varun because I feel the spinners will get a fine purchase and the batting will be difficult, and he is expected to do well and can form a partnership with Narine to be a potent spin attack. When the SRH have Washington Sundar back, they will be decent enough with the outstanding pacers, and so is Gujarat,” said Jaffer.
