IPL 2022: Which team conceded the most sixes this season?

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has witnessed records being made and broken now and then. One such record was created this year, as the 15th edition of the IPL witnessed more than 1000 sixes being hit in the course of 74 games. The feat was achieved in the last league match between Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad when Liam Livingstone hit Romario Shepherd for a humongous six in the 15th over.

At the end of the IPL 2022, a total of 1062 sixes were hit, the most in the history of the tournament. The Royal Challengers Bangalore conceded the most number of sixes this season, accounting for 147 maximums. RCB bowlers gave away 2614 runs in 16 games and were hit for sixes 147 times during their campaign.

The IPL 2022 runners-up team Rajasthan Royals conceded the second most number of sixes, which is way less than RCB’s tally, but they totaled 113 sixes. In 17 matches, RR gave away 2832 runs and conceded a maximum against Gujarat Titans on the last ball of the IPL 2022. Sunrisers Hyderabad is just one short of RR’s total as they conceded 112 sixes in their 2416 runs that the bowlers concealed in 14 games.

CSK conceded the least number of sixes

Five-time champions Mumbai Indians are placed fourth in the list and are just one maximum below SRH with 111 sixes in total over 14 games as the bowlers conceded 2351 runs over the period. Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders were hit for 104 sixes in 14 games as their bowlers gave away 2249 runs.

Delhi Capitals are one less below KKR at the sixth position, having conceded 103 sixes in 14 matches, the bowlers thereby giving away 2397 runs. The IPL 2022 debutants and champions side Gujarat Titans were hit for 101 sixes in 16 games as the bowlers conceded 2534 runs.

Another debut team Lucknow Super Giants conceded 94 sixes in 15 matches, giving away 2496 runs. Punjab Kings bowlers were hit for six 91 times in the tournament as they conceded 2252 runs in 14 matches. The four-time champions Chennai Super Kings conceded the least number of sixes, totaling just 86 in 14 matches as the bowlers gave away 2254 runs.
