IPL 2022: Why is Avesh Khan not playing in LSG vs MI encounter?
Mohsin Khan has replaced Avesh Khan in the team
The 37th match of the IPL 2022 is underway as the Mumbai Indians have locked horns against the Lucknow Super Giants at their home ground. This is the first time this season that Mumbai Indians are playing a match at the Wankhede Stadium.
While MI carried on with the same playing combination from their last game, Lucknow had to make one change in their team as KL Rahul, the skipper, informed that Avesh Khan missed out on the game due to a niggle. The prolific pacer, who had scalped three wickets when the two teams last clashed, was rested for this game as Mohsin Khan replaced him.
“We have experienced players in our XI. We know where we’ve gone wrong and we’ve spoken about it. Hopefully, we can correct our mistakes today and put up a good performance. One change – Avesh Khan misses out due to a small niggle, Mohsin Khan comes in,” KL Rahul said during the toss.
MI look to open their account having the home ground advantage
Avesh Khan has 11 wickets in the seven games that he has played so far, at an average of 20.09 and an economy of 8.29. He registered his best figures of this season against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, as he went on to scalp four wickets during his spell, conceding 24 runs and maintaining a good economy in the game.
Mumbai lost their previous game against CSK on the last ball of the match, but it seemed like they were close to a win. Their team combination finally looked good, and thus Sharma went on with the same XI while LSG was forced to make a change.
Rohit Sharma has not found his rhythm in this season so far, and other players of the team are also struggling as Mumbai has started their IPL 2022 journey in the worst way possible. They have lost seven games consecutively, and as a result, are yet to open their account on the points table.
