3. Akshay Wadkar
The 27-year-old wicketkeeper batter is an uncapped player who represents Vidarbha in the Indian domestic setup. His performance in the recent Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) was noteworthy as he led his team to the semi-finals.
Although Wadkar does not have much experience as he has played only 15 T20s scoring 277 runs in 14 innings averaging 23.08 and striking at 100.36. He has two centuries from his last three games for Vidarbha in first-class cricket and has been one of the consistent players for the side.
CSK has N Jagadeesan as the keeper-batter option, but he has not gotten much opportunity even though he has been with CSK since 2018. As MS Dhoni’s participation in the IPL next year is the question of the hour, the team will require a replacement for donning the gloves behind the stumps and Wadkar can be the man to fill in the gap.
