Not every cricketer can play cricket for a long period of time. And, that is the case with M.S Dhoni. Being one of the most celebrated cricketers in IPL, he has been outrageous with the blade taking CSK to big totals. He is also known as a mastermind in the field and also with gloves. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has been one of the successful franchises because of Dhoni’s masterful tactics.

As said, a great cricketer cannot play for long. Last season, MS Dhoni barely got balls on the middle of bat and looked rusty. This season, still CSK have been dominant but Dhoni’s form has been a question. With CSK’s top order doing most of the work, Dhoni hasn’t got many chances but with mastermind captaincy, he is still alive in the playing 11.

However, an overseas wicketkeeper can be beneficial for the men in yellow. Like how Mumbai have got De Kock and Delhi have Sam Billings. Even Tamil Nadu-born wicketkeeper-batsman Jagadeesan can do the job, but an overseas backup will be helpful. Dhoni hasn’t got much time as he will be 40 years old in a short period of time. Hence, let’s take a look at-

Overseason options CSK can target if MS Dhoni retires

1. Tim Seifert

Tim Seifert can be a good pick if CSK buys him. He is a good hitter of the ball and can also take the gloves. scoring 695 runs at a decent strike rate of 133.1. He is known for his explosives against India back in 2019 when he was going bonkers scoring quickfire knocks.

He was brought as a replacement for Ali Khan in KKR. With a star-studded overseas lineup of Morgan, Russell, Cummins, and Narine, Seifert hasn’t got any chances. KKR might release the Kiwi cricketer.

CSK can target Seifert in the mega auction next year. He can be a great pick in place of MS Dhoni if he plans to bid farewell to the Indian T20 league.
