IPL: 5 Players Mumbai Indians regret for not retaining
The five players have been outstanding for other teams eventually as IPL continued its legacy.
5. Yuzvendra Chahal
The leg spinner from Haryana has risen rapidly through the ranks in limited overs format in the last few years. He was initially spotted by the Mumbai management and was offered a contract by them in 2011. He stayed with the franchise for three years but was never given a consistent run by the team. With limited opportunities, he failed to impress in his initial years and was subsequently released by the Mumbai team after 2013.
He was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2014 and for the first time in his IPL career, He played all the matches in a season as the Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli was highly impressed by the youngster. He has over the years established himself not only in the RCB team but also as a key member of the Indian limited overs side. In 2018, Yuzvendra Chahal also went past Vinay Kumar to become the leading wicket-taker for the Bangalore team. The Mumbai Indians definitely missed a trick by not sticking with the bowler as they have failed to find a frontline spinner other than Harbhajan Singh for their team.
