IPL: 5 Players Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) can retain after AB de Villiers' retirement
De Villiers joined RCB back in 2011 and was a stalwart for them.
5. Wanindu Hasaranga
In the past few years, Sri Lankan cricket has experienced a decline. Their national men’s team has disappointed fans for a few years in a row. The 2021 T20 World Cup wasn’t too different as they only won two matches in the Super 12 round. However, there was a lot of promise shown by the young group of players and Wanindu Hasaranga was one of them.
The leg-spinning all-rounder was called in the middle of the season of 2021 as some of the other players pulled out. He played only two matches but failed to pick a single wicket. Despite that, retaining him is not a bad choice. Yes, he has definitely not proven himself in the IPL, but his international numbers suggest that he will eventually come good if persisted.
In short, he is an incredible player who could become one of the leading players for his nation in the next few years. He is already the No. 1 T20 bowler, a feat which he achieved on the back of his effort of 16 wickets in eight games at the World Cup recently.
With the bat as well, he has some tremendous hitting ability which makes him an ideal T20 player and someone who could be auctioned off for a large sum of money next year. It wouldn’t be too bad if RCB retained him. He could forever keep RCB’s balance in check.
