IPL: 5 Players who once played for RCB

VIVO IPL 10 is all set to begin next month, let us look at few of the star cricketers of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who were part of the team but not anymore. The current Virat Kohli-led RCB team has seen many players come and many gone. Strange it may sound, but Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has changed a lot in the last few years. What is more surprising is that you will be stunned to see who these players were. This year, they would either be representing a new IPL team or might be busy somewhere else or a few of them might have walked into the sunset bidding adieu to the game. Let’s take a look at these cricketers: #1) Zaheer Khan: Zaheer Khan. (Photo by Qamar Sibtain/Getty Images) India’s star left-arm-fast bowler Zaheer Khan has represented IPL tournament since its inauguration in 2008. Zaheer Khan was inducted into the RCB team for the first time in 2008 in which he played 11 matches and picked up 13 wickets. Then again he played another 33 IPL T20s for RCB from 2011 to 2013 picking up 36 wickets at a satisfactory economy rate of around 7. Since 2016, Zak is representing Delhi Daredevils. Zak has 90-wicekt to his credit from 85 IPL matches he participated in. Ever since his debut in 2000 at Indian national cricket team, Zaheer Khan kept performing consistently well across formats for the next one and half years. He picked up 311 wickets in 92 tests that he played so far. Also, Zak got 282 wickets in 200 ODI matches that he played before announcing his retirement in 2015. #2) Misbah Ul Haq: Misbah-ul-Haq. (Photo Source: Twitter) Ace Pakistani batsman Misbah Ul Haq has represented RCB team in IPL’s first edition in 2008. His vast experience and ability to handle pressure at ease were the two skills that made him everyone’s favourite. However, his IPL record is rather inglorious. Misbah represented RCB for 8 matches scoring only 117 runs at an abysmal average of just 17. The 42-year-old cricketer has already announced his retirement from ODIs and T20s in 2015. The Pakistani test skipper Misbah Ul Haq is known for playing sensible cricket as a top-class middle order batsman. He represented his team at ODIs as well within the capacity of a skipper before announcing his retirement after 2015 cricket world cup. Misbah added 4952 runs in 72 tests apart from garnering 5122 runs in 162 ODIs that he played. #3) Abdur Razzak: (Photo by Farjana KHAN GODHULY/AFP/Getty Images) The famed Bangla left-arm orthodox bowler Abdur Razzak debuted for Bangladesh ODI side in 2004 and got featured in 153 ODIs before ICC banned him from playing international cricket due to illegal bowling action in 2013. Razzak played an only IPL match for RCB in 2008 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) where he gave away horrific 29 runs in just two overs. A recent while back, Abdur Razzak lambasted at media for speculation about his retirement. Abdur said to media why they want him to retire from international cricket when he is still as much potent with the ball that he used to be a few years back. But with Shakib at the helm of spin department, it would be a miracle if the 34-year slow left arm orthodox bowler made a comeback in the side. Mehedi Hasan, another Bangla off-spinner is bowling tremendously well now. #4) Ross Taylor: Ross Taylor. (Photo by Mark Kolbe via Getty Images) Ace Kiwi middle order batsman Ross Taylor is known for his sensible and attacking batting. He was a regular member of RCB team from 2008 to 2010. His performance with the bat was excellent in IPL 1 and IPL 2. Taylor garnered a total of 517 runs from 22 IPL matches at a good average of 31. Overall, Ross Taylor has played 55 IPL matches and scored more than 1000 plus runs to his credit. Unfortunately, for the last few years, the gutsy right-hander is away from IPL tournament due to one reason or another. #5) Jesse Ryder: Jesse Ryder. (Photo by Tom Shaw/Getty Images) Despite being at the helm of New Zealand cricket for quite some time, Jesse Ryder’s performance at IPL is a pathetic one. He scored just 604 runs from 29 IPL matches. The talented left-handed middle order batsman represented RCB in IPL 2 in 2009. But the Kiwi batsman left the entire team shocked with his dismal performance of 56 runs from 5 matches at a pathetic average of 11. It shocked both RCB team and his fans as well. In international cricket, Jesse Ryder had represented New Zealand in 18 tests and 48 ODIs scoring 1269 and 1362 runs respectively with 3 tons each in both formats.
