IPL: 5 players who performed well after joining Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
Here’s a look at five such players who improved after joining the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL.
2. Chris Gayle
Another player who turned into an IPL legend after moving to RCB is Chris Gayle. He further cemented his status as the greatest T20 player of all time during his stint with the team. He had a mediocre time with KKR before becoming an IPL superstar, as he was roped in by RCB in the year 2011.
He scored 463 runs in two campaigns for KKR and could manage just 2 half-centuries. Gayle even went unsold in the 2011 auction and only came into the tournament later on when he was bought by RCB as Dirk Nannes’ replacement. He grabbed his opportunity with both hands as he won the Orange Cap by scoring 608 runs in 11 games that season.
Gayle won the Orange Cap in 2012 and formed a deadly trio along with AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli. He has scored 3163 runs in 84 innings at an average of 43.3 while striking at over 150 for RCB. The Jamaican was released by them in 2018 and currently plays for the Punjab Kings.
