IPL 9, Match 47 Preview: Crestfallen Mumbai Indians take on Daredevils
Crestfallen from their defeat at the hands of the lowly Kings XI Punjab, the Mumbai Indians will be hoping for a change in fortunes when they take on the Delhi Daredevils at Vishakapatnam. However, the behavior of the wicket has made it a venue far from home as far as the Mumbai are concerned. For the Daredevils, they will be looking to dip into their arsenal of resources to pick the best squad to make the cut for the encounter against the MI.
Team News-
Mumbai Indians:
The loss to the Kings XI Punjab would have raised a few red flags in the Mumbai Indians camp. For them, failure to secure the qualification would quite literally mean a failure in the entire season despite the decent performances over the season.
Although this will be a must-win for the Indians, it is widely expected that Unmukt Chand will be featuring on the side. The latter was dismissed for a duck as the Mumbai Indians plummeted to a loss. He will be expected to play ahead of Parthiv Patel. Jos Buttler will be handed the wicket-keeping gloves as Ambati Rayudu will be waiting in the wings.
The rest of the side, however, is expected to remain the same. Kieron Pollard and Nitish Rana will have the spotlight on them as the latter remains to keep all-rounder Hardik Pandya out of the side.
Delhi Daredevils:
The Delhi Daredevils’ biggest predicament at the moment will be the selection conundrum. The plethora of players to fill different roles in the side in the Delhi Daredevils ranks is simply astounding. They can almost create another team and field one if that was allowed.
Given the fact that the Vizag wicket assists bowlers, the likes of Zaheer Khan and Jayant Yadav will make their comeback to the side. Imran Tahir will also be expected to make a comeback into the side at the expense of Nathan Coulter-Nile.
The spotlight will firmly be fixed on Quinton de Kock and Rishabh Pant as the left-handed duo will be the key against the Mumbai Indians. It will be an interesting encounter as Rishabh Pant takes on Mitchell McClenaghan in a head-on encounter, especially after what the 18-year old did to Mustafizur the other night against the Kings XI Punjab.
Probable XI-
Mumbai Indians:
Rohit Sharma (C), Unmukt Chand/ Parthiv Patel (wk), Ambati Rayudu, Jos Buttler, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Harbhajan Singh, Nitish Rana, Jasprit Bumrah, Mitchell McClenaghan, Tim Southee
Delhi Daredevils:
Zaheer Khan (C), Quinton de Kock (wk), Sanju Samson, Rishabh Pant, Karun Nair, Carlos Brathwaite, Amit Mishra, Jayant Yadav, Chris Morris, Imran Tahir, Mohammad Shami

2. Daredevils’ openers had added a mere 58 runs in their first six matches. In their last three games, they have added 198.
