IPL 9: Points table, Purple Cap, Orange Cap and fixtures after the KKR v KXIP Match 32
IPL 9 is half way through and the race to make it to the playoffs is almost closing down. Kolkata Knight Riders have marched to the top spot after a close win over the bottom placed Kings XI Punjab. The Kings did no good to themselves and continue to languish at the bottom of the points table. Two teams have 12 points now, the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Gujarat Lions.
Delhi Daredevils could be the 3rd team joining them on 12 points if they beat the Rising Pune Supergiants tonight. The Supergiants will hope to come out good and change the fortunes with a new look side.

Virat Kohli leads the race for the Orange Cap, being the only batsman to have scored in excess of 400 runs this season. He has 433 runs to his name in 7 matches. David Warner slipped to the 3rd spot with 386 runs in 7 matches. The 2nd position is now held by the Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir with 393 runs, although he has played 2 more matches compared to Kohli and Warner. His opening partner, Robin Uthappa has moved to the 6th spot following a brilliant half century against the Kings XI Punjab. RPS opener Ajinkya Rahane would be hoping to add a few runs to his tally tonight against the Delhi Daredevils to move up the ranks in the Orange Cap list.

Mumbai Indians spearhead Mitch McClenaghan has slipped to the 2nd spot in the Purple Cap list. The list is now headed by Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Andre Russell, who bagged 4/20 in the match against Kings XI Punjab. Although both of them have 13 wickets in 9 matches, it is better economy rate of Russell that gives him the Purple Cap for now. Jasprit Bumrah follows next with 11 wickets. Interestingly, no RPS bowler features in the list of top 10. For the Delhi Daredevils tonight, it will a chance for Amit Mishra to pocket a few scalps and rise in the table.
