IPL puts its focus on retention policy, match cards, salary caps

The Indian Premier League’s think tank is currently putting their focus on the teams, retention policy, match cards, salary caps etc. There have been a lot of talks regarding the marquee players for the two teams- Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. There have been rumors in the franchise circle regarding reverse draft taking place.

The cricketers of Rising Supergiants Pune and Gujarat Lions, are expected to be put in the pool from which the two teams, making their comebacks, can pick from. The number could be three, four or five, depending on the number of retentions the remaining six teams are allowed.

The yellow brigade and their fans are happy to be back in the league. CSK are eager to pick their core team once again. They also want to work with the same support staff, who have worked with the team for the past eight years.“The ban is officially over. It is good that we are back. As far as possible we will try to retain the players and support staff we had,” said George John, one of the directors of Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited, which runs the team.

“We have not been told about the player retention policy but we will look to try and get all the main players who played for CSK,” said John answered when asked whether the BCCI or the IPL governing council have informed about any such policy. “We would want to retain the old support staff. We are in talks with Stephen Fleming and Michael Hussey,” George John added.

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals franchise have approached the BCCI with a request to change the name of the team, in an order to clean the past blots. The Royals will look to start fresh under their new owners- Jaipur IPL Cricket Private Limited.
