2018 edition – KL Rahul, Kings XI Punjab (INR 11 Crore)
With all squads going through a major revamp, Royal Challengers Bangalore had to let go KL Rahul and the stylish batsmen cost a whopping INR 11 crore to go in the hands of the Kings XI Punjab. Despite making some very good signings, Punjab ended up not reaching the playoffs, but Rahul’s performance that season was stellar.
He amassed 659 runs with the bat, at an average of 54.91 and a strike-rate in excess of 150. His stylish cricket made him the most attractive batsmen to see and enjoy. Despite not registering a three-digit score, he piled up 6 half-centuries that season for Punjab.
The youngster managed to rip apart bowling lineups and also made a great impression on the national side, where he continued to get a good preference. He once again chipped in with an impressive run tally of 592 runs in the next edition, making every penny spent on him worth-while.
