IPL8: Iyer and Duminy power DD to a win as MI struggle to fight: Delhi Daredevils ended their nine match losing streak at home when they defeated Mumbai Indians by 37 runs at the Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium in Delhi. With this win, Delhi have won 3 out of their first six matches while Mumbai have lost five out their six matches.

Chasing 191 to win from 20 overs, Mumbai Indians got off to a decent start before Delhi dismissed both Lendl Simmons and Parthiv Patel courtesy some fine fielding efforts from JP Duminy and Imran Tahir. Unmukt Chand too failed to last long before he was stumped off Amit Mishra for 14. Mishra later accounted for the danger man Kieron Pollard for 10 and that left a huge pressure on Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu to win it from there. The duo put on a 49 run partnership before Rohit Sharma was dismissed on the stroke of Ceat Strategic Timeout for a 24 ball 30, which dashed all the hopes of Mumbai winning the match.

In the next over of the game, Imran Tahir sealed the game as he dismissed Hrithik Pandya, Amati Rayudu and Mitchell McClenaghan conceding just four runs. Harbhajan Singh and Lasith Malinga tried to reduce the margin but the Delhi bowlers were right on the mark and restricted them to 153/9 in 20 overs. Imran Tahir picked up 3-22 while Amit Mishra and Angelo Mathews chipped in with 2 wickets apiece.

Earlier put into bat, Delhi Daredevils batsmen were off to a stunning start as Shreyas Iyer and JP Duminy put on a 154 run partnership in 16 overs after Mayank Agarwal was dismissed in the very first over of the match. Iyer looked solid in his 56 ball 83, which included 7 fours and 5 sixes and was in for scoring a hundred before a brain fade occurred as his stumps were broken when he tried to paddle sweep a Lasith Malinga Yorker. JP Duminy remained unbeaten on 50 ball 78 with 3 fours and 6 sixes. These two made sure Delhi post a competitive 190-4 in 20 overs.

Tahir was named the Hotstar Moment of the match for snatching the purple cap from Ashish Nehra while Iyer was named the man of the match.

Brief scores: Delhi Daredevils 190 for 4 (Shreyas Iyer 83, JP Duminy 78*) beat Mumbai Indians 153 for 9 (Rohit Sharma 30, Ambati Rayudu 30, Imran Tahir 3-22) by 37 runs.
