Indian cricketers Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan distribute 10000 kg rice and 700 kg potato amid Coronavirus pandemic
Earlier they had donated face masks to help people protect themselves from the Coronavirus.
Coronavirus pandemic has brought the life to a standstill. India has so far witnessed more than 3500 positive cases regarding the virus despite being under the lockdown since March 24 and it is set to end on April 14. The lockdown has led to the daily wage earners and the poor people and their families across the country struggling immensely.
During these tough times, several Indian cricketers have come forward to help them and the latest to join the list are the Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan. Earlier, they had distributed a lot of face masks to the people to keep themselves protected from the deadly virus.
“We are ready to support the government in every possible way in such a critical situation. The next few days are going to be critical and we appeal to every citizen of the country to stay indoors and look after his health and take care of everyone around him,” Irfan and Yusuf had told CricTracker a few days ago.
This time around, they are taking care of the poor people’s food. Irfan and Yusuf Pathan have decided to distribute 10000 kg rice and 700 kg potato in Baroda among poor and needy people. This is a great step from the duo as a lot of people are suffering due to hunger amid the nationwide lockdown.
Meanwhile, both the brothers have been creating awareness and telling the importance of staying at home to their fans and followers. Irfan also urged his followers to not panic and spread false news during these times.
Indian cricketing fraternity doing its bit
Meanwhile, like Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan, the Indian cricketing fraternity is also doing its best to help the nation. The BCCI President Sourav Ganguly earlier donated rice worth Rs 50 lakh to the poor people and on Saturday, extended his helping hand to ISKCON’S Kolkata centre. Earlier, ISKCON centre was able to 10,000 people daily but due to Ganguly’s help, they are now feeding 20,000 people on a daily basis.
“From ISKCON Kolkata we were cooking food for 10,000 people daily. Our dear Sourav Da has come forward and extended all his support and has donated, which enables us to double our capacity to 20,000 people every day,” Radharaman Das spokesperson and vice-president of ISKCON, Kolkata centre said.
