Irfan Pathan interacts with budding UAE cricketers, oversees practice session at ICC Academy
Irfan, who was known for his ability to move the ball both ways, explained the significance of a smooth bowling action.
Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan, who is currently in the UAE as part of the commentary panel for the ongoing Asia Cup 2022, spent some time with some budding UAE cricketers, and shared his wealth of experience and knowledge of the game.
Pathan was one of the figures behind the mic in the Sunday blockbuster clash between India and Pakistan, which India won by five wickets in Dubai, and his presence at the tournament turned out to be a blessing for the local talents, who got a chance to interact with him. Apparently, UAE’s national team coach Robin Singh made a special request to Pathan to spend some time with the budding talents and oversee their practice session at the ICC Academy in Dubai.
The experienced campaigner not only interacted with the players but also shared his valuable insights with them. Irfan, who was known for his ability to move the ball both ways, explained the significance of smooth bowling action. The veteran also explained how wrist positions and angles play a role in swinging the ball.
Notably, UAE were a part of the Asia Cup qualifiers, but could not make it to the main competition as they lost against Hong Kong in the final of the qualifying round.
Meanwhile, the former all-rounder is multitasking in the UAE, as he is also preparing himself for the upcoming second edition of the Legends League Cricket (LLC). On his off day from work, Pathan visited the ICC Academy to start his training. Pathan is also a part of the special game that will take place on September 16 between India Maharajas and World Giants, which has been organized to commemorate India’s 75 years of independence.
Moreover, the all-rounder keeps breaking barriers both on and off the field as after announcing his retirement, he turned towards broadcasting and commentary and has established himself as one of the successful professionals in that arena.
The 37-year-old has now stepped into a different domain of entertainment, with his debut movie ‘Cobra’ set to be released on August 31. Pathan flawlessly performed his all-rounder role while playing for the Men in Blue, and he will now look to continue to do so off the field as well.
