It is only Dhoni who can decide for how long he can play: Rahul Dravid
There is an ongoing debate over MS Dhoni's future and if he will play the World Cup 2019.
Former Indian captain MS Dhoni has proved himself on all counterparts and situations in his entire cricketing career. He is very close to eclipsing the 10,000-run mark in ODIs at a staggering average of more than 50. When it comes to leadership skills, he has all the three prestigious ICC Trophies in his kitty and is regarded as one of the most successful captains to have played the sport. And by looking at the current form and fitness of the wicketkeeper-batsman, his spot in the Indian side is very much secure for the 2019 World Cup in England.
Though, there are some queries regarding his hitting standards presently and can Dhoni finish games like he had in the past. Former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid tried to answer some questions concerning the best finisher in the limited-overs format. Dravid mentioned that it is only Dhoni who can decide for how long he wants to play.
Dhoni is the right person to answer the queries
Both the big decisions in MS Dhoni’s cricketing career, whether it be the sudden retirement from Tests in 2014 or stepping down from the limited-overs captaincy in 2016, have been a surprise for all the players and millions of cricket lovers. So the question as to how long will MS play certainly depends only on him to decide. The India A and Under-19 coach also mentioned the same fact that since the selectors are selecting him on a regular basis, which makes it clear that only Dhoni can decide for how long he wants to play the game.
“People might have different opinions on when Dhoni should retire. But, if the selectors have selected him, he can play for India as long as he wants,” said Dravid as quoted by Times of India.
