'It takes just two seconds to pull someone's pants down' - Ramiz Raja suggests former Pakistan cricketers to be careful on YouTube
According to Raja, former cricketers on YouTube vent out their anger in such a way that it results into a personal attack against an individual.
Over the past few months, many former Pakistan players have resorted to YouTube to express their opinion through digital media. However, on several occasions, these players have hogged the headlines for their derogatory comments on the PCB or fellow players.
Speaking over this issue, cricketer-turned-commentator Ramiz Raja suggested these former players to not pass such comments. While speaking on his YouTube channel, Raza said that one should be careful before letting out his opinions on electronic and digital media. According to Raja, unnecessary criticism often results in bringing down the image of Pakistan cricket.
“Mic is a very powerful medium. It takes just two seconds to pull someone’s pants down so we need to be very careful. We need to be respectful and say things that are digestible,” Raja said.
“I am saying all this because the Pakistan Cricket Board has filed cybercrime cases against one or two individuals. Some people have also crossed boundaries because when you are frustrated, you vent. However, there are ways to do it,” he added.
‘Some people have also crossed boundaries’: Ramiz Raja
According to Raja, former cricketers on YouTube vent out their anger in such a way that it results into a personal attack against an individual. Raja said that Pakistan cricket has been in news for all the wrong reasons due to such instances. Hence, the cricketer-turned-commentator suggested everyone to criticise an issue wisely.
“Many ex-cricketers have opened their YouTube channels. Please vent in a way so that it is not a personal attack against any individual, which forces them to take extreme steps like reporting the case to the FIA,” he said.
“Bread and butter of every former and current cricketer are dependent on cricket. Pakistan cricket has only gotten wrong headlines for the past month or so, which has brought down its image.”
“You can criticise because there are faults in the system, but at least do it wisely,” he added.
Recently, former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar was called for a hearing by the cybercrime unit of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for spreading false allegations against the PCB. The ‘Rawalpindi Express’ was accused of demeaning the PCB’s system and creating negative perception of the board. The PCB has also filed a complaint about inappropriate social media posts which were targetting CEO Wasim Khan.
