It was a childhood dream to become the No 1 bowler says Hasan Ali
Ali - I have been blessed with success and the Champions Trophy victory was the best thing.
It is always a dream of a fast bowler to be No 1 on the charts and the same was with Pakistan’s young speedster Hasan Ali, who is currently at the top in the ICC ODI bowlers rankings. He had put up a great show in Pakistan’s winning campaign in Champions Trophy 2017 and was also the Player of the Tournament. He is also the leading wicket-taker in the ongoing home series against Sri Lanka.
Recently, the right-arm bowler has achieved a half-century of wickets in a shorter span of matches than Pakistan greats like Waqar Younis, Saqlain Mushtaq and Shoaib Akhtar. In a recent interview, he revealed that it was his childhood goal to become the No 1 bowler and also talked about his future challenges and aspirations. Hasan also said that it was his brother Ataur Rehman who had first noticed him in his early stages.
I always wanted to be at the top
The 23-year old paceman stated that it was his childhood dream to be amongst the top bowlers in the world. “It’s a dream come true. I set many goals in my childhood and to be the world number one bowler was amongst the top,” he said as quoted by News18.
Hasan further stated that the 2019 World Cup in England is his next goal and also revealed that his elder brother Ataur Rehman was the one who noticed him in his young days. “My elder brother was the greatest influence on my career and after a few first-class seasons I was picked by Peshawar franchise in the first edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). I have been blessed with success and the Champions Trophy victory was the best thing. The next big goal is to win the 2019 World Cup in England,” he added.
He is performing well and should be kept well
Former legendary Pakistan fast bowler Waqar Younis also heaped praises for talented Hasan Ali and advised the board to take good care of him. “His rise is phenomenal. But since a lot of events have happened in Pakistan cricket I would like to see Hasan and other talented youngsters be mentored properly so that they don’t get lost,” he said.
“Hasan and other youngsters are assets for our cricket and they can carry our cricket forward. We cannot afford another jolt so I advice they should be monitored and mentored,” concluded Waqar.
