'It will be kind of a different feeling' - Rashid Khan ahead of GT's game against his former team SRH
Rashid Khan was the part of SRH squad for the past five years.
Gujarat Titans leg-spinner Rashid Khan is excited to play against his former franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a group stage match to be played at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai on April 11 (Monday). To note, Rashid Khan was signed by the new entrants for a huge sum of INR 15 crore ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction.
The Titans are on an unbeaten streak so far in IPL 2022 with three wins in as many games. They have won against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) and are looking like the side to beat in the tournament. GT are currently placed third on the points table and a win over SRH will take them to the top.
We had a good competition during net sessions: Rashid on Kane Williamson
Speaking on the official Twitter handle of Gujarat Titans, Rashid Khan admitted that it will be a different feeling for him to play against his former IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad. He is also looking forward to bowl at the SRH skipper Kane Williamson. “As a team, we prepare for the game against SRH. We know their strength and how good they are, but we know our strengths as well and need to focus on that.”
“This year, a team which I played for five years, but now, I am playing against them and it will be kind of a different feeling. Bowling to someone like Kane (Williamson), is always a huge pleasure as a bowler. We had a good five years together, while we had the kind of competition in the nets, I was trying to beat him and he was trying to not get out of me. Now against each other you know its a lovely contest and I think fans will love to see that,” Rashid said.
Meanwhile, after beating the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK), SRH are expected to face a stiff competition against the Ahmedabad-based franchise. Skipper Kane Williamson, along with other opener Abhishek Sharma will have the responsibility of providing a good start to the Orange Army. Wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran and all-rounder Washington Sundar will also have some crucial roles to play in the match.
