'It's gone so far on social media' - ICC acknowledges Nepal's Sita Rana Magar's Pushpa celebration

The Pushpa celebration has been trending for the last few months around the world and it has now extended its fan following to women’s cricket as well. ICC had posted a video of Nepal’s Sita Rana Magar coming up with the Pushpa celebration after picking up a wicket, a trend that was followed in the ongoing IPL as well. Ravindra Jadeja brought out the Pushpa celebration while picking up a wicket for CSK, Obed McCoy had also imitated the celebration for the Rajasthan Royals.

The incident happened during the FairBreak Invitational Tournament in Dubai and Sita Rana Magar was spotted moving her hand under her chin to imitate the style of Allu Arjun from the South Indian movie Pushpa. The movie was a grand success all over the country and a lot of cricketers have managed to imitate a lot of moves from the Pushpa movie. However, it has come down to a match between Tornadoes Women and Sapphires Women on May 5 where the celebration has been used.

“It’s gone so far on social media. Nepal’s Sita Rana Magar with the most popular celebration currently,” ICC tweeted.

Meanwhile, the tournament has featured established international stars like England captain Heather Knight, West Indies skipper Stafanie Taylor and Pakistan’s Sana Mir alongside the company of emerging nation players. Women’s cricket has seen significant growth in the last few years despite slowing down during the lockdown times and it is important to monitor the progress of women’s cricket globally.

The tournament has also provided a little bit of financial stability to the women’s cricket and certainly, the kind of celebrations that have been produced by the women’s cricketers will attract a lot of viewership as well. There have also been talks of the Women’s IPL being introduced soon which will enable a lot of stars to come to the country and make a name for themselves.
