'Jaddu bhai, jo Grandhomme ko daala tha, wahi daalna padega' - Rishabh Pant's valuable advice gives Ravindra Jadeja a wicket
Rishabh Pant helps Ravindra Jadeja to dismiss the dangerous-looking Tim Southee for 30 runs.
There is always anticipation, excitement, and funny incidents when India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant speaks from behind the wicket. The 23-year-old keeper is never shy to express himself. The dashing keeper was at it again on Day 5 of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final against New Zealand.
This time he was instructing Ravindra Jadeja on how to dismiss the dangerous-looking Tim Southee who had scored a valuable 30 runs for his team. Although skipper Virat Kohli wanted Mohammed Shami to get his fifer, Southee was rather comfortable facing the pacer and helped the Kiwis get a slender 32-run lead too. Kohli had to bring in a bowling change and he brought Jadeja back into the attack.
The all-rounder was greeted with a six on his first ball before Pant suggested him to change his line and length and bowl-like what he did to Colin de Grandhomme. The off-spinner duly obliged and the very next ball castled Southee and wrapped up the Kiwis innings with 249 onboard.
The plan worked and credit should be given to Pant for helping Jadeja to get rid of Tim Southee. The 23-year-old was caught on the stump mic saying, “Jaddu bhai, jo Grandhomme ko daala tha, wahi daalna padega.”
Before getting the wicket of Southee, Jadeja troubled all-rounder De Grandhomme by bowling a lot quicker in the 80th over of the innings. At that time too, Pant kept on encouraging the spinner to keep mixing his line and length.

New Zealand inch ahead on Day 5 of WTC Final
Finally, cricket resumed on Day 5 and the teams battled it out with no team giving an inch or two. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson held one end and displayed enough patience to hang in there right till the end before departing for 49. Meanwhile, for India, Mohammed Shami was brilliant picking four wickets to restrict the Kiwis to 249.
In reply, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill started well, before Tim Southee removed the latter for eight runs. Sharma looked good and was almost about to come unscathed before Southee struck to send the opener back for 30 runs. With that wicket, the Blackcaps are slightly ahead as India needs to bat out of their skins to ensure a draw on the reserve day.
