Jasprit Bumrah is an asset for India: Glenn McGrath

The Indian bowling attack is deemed to be among the most lethal in all formats. The 25-year-old fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is a part of the setup in all three formats of cricket and he hardly has flattered to deceive. With a deceptive slower delivery and the stupendous prowess of delivering Yorkers at will, Bumrah can turn out to be a headache especially for someone, who is facing him for the first time.

Moreover, he can also clock above the 150 kmph mark on a consistent basis. He is nearing three years of international cricket and has already carved himself a reputation as an indispensable member of the Indian team. Recently, former Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath heaped praises on the Ahmedabad-born speedster and termed him as India’s asset.

He has been consistently good

“Bumrah is fantastic. He runs in smoothly and increases his momentum nicely. His follow through is fine too. He is an excellent modern-day bowler. He intelligently varies his length and speed and does so at will,” Bumrah was quoted as saying in Mid Day

“Of course, his yorkers are good and his bouncers are deceptive. The way he runs in and the manner in which he uses his back, the chances of getting injured are less. He has been consistently good and is a great asset for India,” he added.

Bumrah was exceptional in the opening Test against Australia at Adelaide Oval. In the first innings, he finished with three wickets, which included the prized scalp of Peter Handscomb. He also nipped out Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc to brush aside the tail without dropping much sweat.

In the second innings, he got rid of Shaun Marsh, who was threatening to take the match away from India by scoring 60 patient runs. Skipper Tim Paine and Cummins couldn’t counter the venom spewed by him. Jasprit Bumrah is also expected to bowl well in Perth as the pitch there is speculated to have pace and bounce.
