Jasprit Bumrah takes a hilarious catch to dismiss Finch
He grabbed the ball but it popped out of his hands but some how managed to hold onto it.
Coming into the 5th ODI the Indian team brought back their strike bowlers, it was a predictable move since they struggled to contain the Australian batsmen in the previous ODI and that allowed them to get a total that was beyond the reach of the hosts. Though India opened the bowling with the preferred bowling pair of Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Aaron Finch and David Warner enjoyed the hardness of the ball and got them off to a flying start.
They had 60 runs in the first mandatory power play and Virat Kohli had to bring in his first change bowler Hardik Pandya. And he can simply be not kept out of the game, the Indian all-rounder induced a false shot from Finch who scored a hundred and a ninety in the last two innings. He mistimed the ball and Bumrah at mid-off ran to his left and got himself in an awkward position to get the catch.
He grabbed the ball but it popped out of his hands, it didn’t leave his body and rolled on his legs, he went down, his legs helping him keep the ball in play and eventually managed to hold on to the ball somehow. The fielder claimed the catch but the umpires weren’t sure and thus went up to the TV umpire to get a confirmation.
Replays suggested it was, in the end, a clean catch as at no point; the ball was in touch with the ground. India got a huge wicket and Finch was on his way back after scoring 32 from 36 balls, he hit four boundaries during his stay.
Like it has happened so often in the series, Australian batting once again failed to tackle the spinners in the middle overs. They were soon reduced to 118/4 with the top 4 back in the hut and at Nagpur which is a traditionally high-scoring ground they will not manage to post a huge total.
