Jasprit Bumrah will be the best bowler of World Cup 2019, feels Yuvraj Singh
This year, Bumrah averages just over 22 in the IPL and has an economy rate of 6.70.
He might not have made it himself but Yuvraj Singh is never short of encouraging his colleagues who will slog it out in the upcoming ICC World Cup. The talented left-hander recently spoke highly about pacer Jasprit Bumrah and said that he asks the latter not to bowl at him in the nets, to convey how good a bowler he is. Both Yuvraj and Bumrah are playing for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019.
Bumrah has been a top performer this year, claiming 15 wickets in 13 matches while Yuvraj hasn’t played in the tournament for a month now, after appearing in four. He hit a fifty in the first match against Delhi Capitals in Mumbai and that remains his highest point in this edition. Yuvraj, who was at a promotional event for the WC starting May 30, said the skiddy pacer’s presence in the Indian team will add to its strength.
“Bumrah is amongst the top three pacers in world cricket at the moment. He’s been winning us games. He’s at his best when he is attacking the batsman. I’m definitely gunning for Bumrah as the best bowler in the World Cup,” Times of India quoted Yuvraj, man of the series of the 2011 World Cup, as saying.
Bumrah had a meteoric rise in Test cricket in 2018 and he finished among the top wicket-takers in the entire year. He had a magnificent run in the historic series in Australia that India won and has done well in the IPL now. The bowler has been used judiciously in games so as to keep him fresh when the WC starts. Bumrah had an injury scare in the very first game in the IPL but he did well to overcome it, much to the relief of the Indian team management as well as the fans.
This year, Bumrah averages just over 22 in the IPL and has an economy rate of 6.70.
